Opening Ceremonies were held Friday, December 18, at 17:30 local time in nearby Niterói.
Qualifying Round Matches began Saturday, December 19, at 06:00 and ended Tuesday, December 29, with the last match beginning at 16:00.
Closing Ceremonies and Announcements of the Qualifiers occurred on Wednesday, December 30, at 18:30.

Many countries sent a representative team to this competition in hopes of claiming this year's crown. Exactly ~~120~~ 113 teams vied for the 24 positions in the 1999 International Shuffleboard Championship Finals Tournament.

Crowd favorites this year were the Amazing Shovel Duo from Switzerland and the Precision Team of Japan.
