Track | 1 | |
Length | 2:05 | |
Size | 2.0 MB | |
Notes | The first voice in the beginning is the DJ guy from KLSU's local show back in December 1997 when I did the New Year's Eve show. The live bit goes back even further to 5 July 1996 when I played live at Bryson's Café, a christian café. You can hear them complaining about my "vulgarities". |
Lyrics |
Here's, uh... Leif recorded... um... live in the studio. Ted refused me Ted was a gay man Ted refused me |
Track | 2 | |
Length | 5:30 | |
Size | 6.4 MB | |
Notes | It stands for "Prince Edward Island". "P.E.I." just had the vowel sounds I needed for the chorus. |
Lyrics |
When I like to cause I like you If you take one step inside Found some water when I lost her If you take one step inside I didn't watch her |
Track | 3 | |
Length | 2:20 | |
Size | 2.9 MB | |
Notes | The first song from my miracle weekend (Sept 2002) where I recorded a song a day, Friday to Monday (I think). This one is about eating someone. |
Lyrics |
I grew some twine, tied you down I just wanna eat you cause nothing ever grows here Maybe I got you wrong |
Track | 4 | |
Length | 1:42 | |
Size | 2.0 MB | |
Notes | Written in March 1999, only now does it get recorded. |
Lyrics |
Please have sex with me Maybe the rain has begun to affect my brain Please have sex with me Something inside is begging to be pleased |
Track | 5 | |
Length | 2:19 | |
Size | 2.6 MB | |
Notes | A remix of something that was on Dead Pigs. One of the few ways I wanted to remix the original. |
Lyrics |
Leave me behind for I am afraid I, oh I lie Lying and losing and cheating deceiving I, oh I lie |
Track | 6 | |
Length | 0:11 | |
Size | 0.2 MB | |
Notes | Just fill in the city and radio station call letters and you're all set to have me endorse your station. The most efficient way to sell out. |
Lyrics |
Hi, this is Leif, and when I'm in ___ I listen to ___, the f__ing home of true rock. |
Track | 7 | |
Length | 3:25 | |
Size | 4.1 MB | |
Notes | Holy crap! This was written in December 1997! Makes me think that I really haven't developed musically in the past 5 years. |
Lyrics |
I don't know a Bob but if I did Bob would hate to mow lawns I don't know Bob Bob would stay up late Bob's job would have to be the worst I don't know Bob Bob would realize we're doomed I don't know Bob |
Track | 8 | |
Length | 3:33 | |
Size | 4.1 MB | |
Notes | This was done back in 1998 with Mike when I was shown DDClip. This and "2-04-538" are early versions of the songs, but all other versions have been lost. |
Lyrics |
Mmm mmm mmm mmm |
Track | 9 | |
Length | 5:40 | |
Size | 6.0 MB | |
Notes | The title comes from a sticker on a utility box outside a restaurant. The song took forever. Each beep you hear, each frequency is a different sine wave. Each beep has been carefully panned to its best position. |

Track | 10 | |
Length | 4:50 | |
Size | 4.9 MB | |
Notes | My brother painfully blew into a didgeridoo and I used that one sample for the entire song. The tapping was done with some Australian tapping sticks and the big drum is from Talvin Singh. The song is about a man who works in a large industrial plant with lots of gears. He pokes at the machinery one day and gets pulled in, his humanity getting crushed and his cries becoming more and more distant. |

Track | 11 | |
Length | 3:06 | |
Size | 3.4 MB | |
Notes | I can't find when this was recorded. I'm thinking it was 1996. Its inexactness remains intact, so you must regard it as something pure and simple. |

Track | 12 | |
Length | 2:11 | |
Size | 2.3 MB | |
Notes | This is the second track from the Mike DDClip sessions, along with "mf'n cool song". |
Lyrics |
It's so green |
Track | 13 | |
Length | 0:10 | |
Size | 0.2 MB | |
Notes | I found this woman talking by accident when looking online for the tones indicating a disconnected phone number. The harmonica is a first for me as I want to start adding more to my music. It's a fun instrument and sounds really cool. |
Lyrics |
Structure, part one. Complete the following sentences by translating the Chinese into English. |
Track | 14 | |
Length | 2:22 | |
Size | 2.7 MB | |
Notes | Written in freakin July 1996, I'm only now recording it. I came up with a drum thing with the tambourine that wasn't meant for the song, but I liked it so much that I continued using it. |
Lyrics |
Running down the hall Ahh Buy me some time |
Track | 15 | |
Length | 0:49 | |
Size | 0.8 MB | |
Notes | From like episode 4 or 5 of "My So-Called Life". The dad was working on the rain gutters and was trying to his daughter's friend to help. |
Lyrics |
Hey! Hey! Hey, you wanna give me a hand with this? Wanna give me a hand? For a second! Gimme a hand! This! Wanna... Come over here! For a second! Gimme a hand!... "Gee, thanks, well, I'd I'd like to help you, sir, but I'm too busy picturing your daughter naked." |
Track | 16 | |
Length | 2:45 | |
Size | 3.5 MB | |
Notes | I forget why I did this cover (by the Who) but I like the song, so I guess that's plenty of reason. The vocals were meant to just be demo, but I never felt like redoing them. |
Lyrics |
I don't mind other guys dancing with my girl Sometimes I feel I gotta get away I know if I go things will be a lot better for her |
Track | 17 | |
Length | 3:43 | |
Size | 4.1 MB | |
Notes | This one is so old, originally 4-tracked in April 1996 and called "Needs Drums". The chorus alternates between badly lala-ing a melody and some weird keyboard-sounding thing (which actually comes from the vocals, too). |
Lyrics |
Bounce |
Track | 18 | |
Length | 3:03 | |
Size | 3.6 MB | |
Notes | The root of the lyrics are from May 1996 when I was sick of the mind-numbingness of a Physical Science class, right before I got into physics. The rest are 2002. The guitar riff came out of nowhere in Sept and I looked for old words to go with it. |
Lyrics |
You're fucking with the children and your mind it won't accept me Matted focus, stripped and clumped Forty walls and empty space The lines go by and down you fall I can't forget |
Track | 19 | |
Length | 4:52 | |
Size | 6.1 MB | |
Notes | The second song for a girl I briefly met in Jan 2002 (along with "P.E.I."), written in Feb. The original was just guitar and vocals and irritated me, so I redid the whole damn thing. |
Lyrics |
Stop the night, hold on to you Many knives shout from the corner of your room When it feels like it never ends Let it go, hold on to me When it feels like it never ends (She went to answer the door. Something inside her was telling her it was a bad idea, but she did it anyway. She opened the door without looking out to see who it was, thinking it was a friend who was supposed to come by. A man came in and pushed her down and started stabbing her chest with a knife. She cried for help but no one could hear. Blood collected in a puddle. The man left her for dead. She laid there for hours, staring at the ceiling. Not knowing what was real.) |
Track | 20 | |
Length | 3:48 | |
Size | 4.1 MB | |
Notes | I give up. I've had a lot of trouble mixing this with the serious bass going on. The bass is just some sine wavs I slapped together. The "organ" as well. And yes, the guitaring is me. |
Lyrics |

Track | 21 | |
Length | 2:37 | |
Size | 2.7 MB | |
Notes | This one is about a girl who will never know it's about her. |
Lyrics |
Here I am and I'm wasting my breath You gave me back what I lent you last week No words are coming out right I can't make any sense You spun and gave up 'Cause no words are coming out right |
